VMware Player unable to start service

Bug Description

After upgrading ubuntu to 14.04 LTS, starting VMware player shows the following two messages:

1.
Before you can run VMware, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel.

2.
Unable to start services.

See log file /tmp/vmware-root/vmware-modconfig-5420.log for details

You need to update vmware to work with newer kernels: http://dandar3.blogspot.com/2014/01/vmware-player-601-on-ubuntu-1404-alpha.html

Ubuntu/Canonical does not package or support vmware, so I am marking this bug as Invalid.
