Bug Description

Sometimes, the system will appear to go to sleep mode (i.e. the LEDs will start indicating sleep mode). However, it appears to not suspend completely and the system produces a lot of heat while it is in this state which is rather dangerous if you put it in your sleeve and leave it there the system will overheat quickly. The problem exists both with the default Ubuntu and the mainline 3.14 kernel.

The behavior is still the same after I updated the BIOS (which was quite a pain, by the way because the Lenovo BIOS update ISO only works on CDs and cannot be booted from USB drives. Thus I had to install Windows to install the update and then install Ubuntu again).

Here is the output that you wanted to have:
GJET75WW (2.25 )
03/28/2014

As I said, nothing has changed. Sometimes (not always) when going to suspsend, the screen goes dark, the LEDs indicate suspend mode and the cpu seems to be working so that the device gets very hot very fast. This is why I think the bug should have a higher importance level than "Low" because it can lead to the device overheating.
It is not possible to recover the system from that state. Holding the power button until the device powers off seems to be the only way to get out of it.

WishMaster, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.15-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

I have now tested it with 3.14.0-031400-generic kernel and the problem is still the same.
I have attached the report from /var/crash

WishMaster, the latest mainline kernel is http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.15-rc5-utopic/ . Could you please test with this and advise to the results?

There is no difference there. My first attempt to suspend the system resulted in a crash. I have attached the crashlog from /var/crash.

WishMaster, did this problem not occur in a release prior to Saucy?

I don't know. This model was released in October 2013 so there is probably little use in trying an older version of Ubuntu on it.
