Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/Mozilla. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

I was able to reproduce this myself on Windows, it's easy and you can move rather slowly and surprisingly still see the effect.

Can't reproduce with firefox-30.0.en-US.linux64 or 29.0.1.

This must be a duplicate, see:
* bug 997681
* bug 1001362
* bug 1015756
* bug 1019615

After reviewing those bugs, I don't think this isn't a dupe of any of them, and I have reproduced on two alternate linux systems (Arch and Ubuntu), I can follow-up with sysinfo and moz user agent as required.

The closest bug is 1015756 as it may be related to the timing of the close animation, but ultimately this is a different problem as the issue here is the tab 'clicked' needs to be tracked instead of the tab under the cursor at the time the middle-click is actually processed.

Works for me on Firefox 43 and Nightly 46.

Thanks for responding. I assigned this to Firefox: Tabbed Browser so people with more experience on this matter to be involved.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

I'm setting this bug to "Incomplete" as it's not seen any activity for some time and the upstream bug is still showing as "UNCONFIRMED".

If this is still an issue when using a maintained version of Firefox then please let us know.

Issue has been "Incomplete" over 90+ days now with no
response from reporter. Upstream report is still in
"Unconfirmed" status after almost 6 years.

Reporter doesn't appear to be a current user of Launchpad.

Closing as "Invalid" as issue was never confirmed by another user.
