Bug Description

Both Kubuntu 12.04 and Kubuntu 12.10 boot without problems. Install 14.04 from USB-Stick rebooted after a few seconds. If I do nothing or select install and try everytime after a few seconds reboots.

WORKAROUND: Add radeon.dpm=0 to /etc/default/grub:GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT .

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

kernel-bug-exists-upstream

3.15 also reboots without radeon.dpm=0

uname -a
Linux is1 3.15.0-031500rc2-generic #201404201435 SMP Sun Apr 20 18:36:18 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.15.0-031500rc2-generic root=UUID=4b852540-b06d-4a34-a9d3-e7bf9b1743c2 ro radeon.dpm=0

because kubuntu 12.10 works ok on that pc I also tried
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.12.18-trusty/

that one works without radeon.dpm=0:
uname -a
Linux is1 3.12.18-031218-generic #201404232135 SMP Thu Apr 24 01:36:18 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.12.18-031218-generic root=UUID=4b852540-b06d-4a34-a9d3-e7bf9b1743c2 ro

need to bring the PC to its owner today, so more tests are difficult to do for me, sorry
