Bug Description

Hi,
after I installed Xubuntu 14.04 the screen resolution is only 640x480, while if I run it LIVE, I get also higher resolutions (1024X768, etc).
My graphic card is a SiS 771/671 PCIE (from lspci).

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

It was a fresh brand new installation of Xubuntu.

I installed then Linuxmint 16 and I was able to get at least 1024x768.

maxmito, for regression testing purposes, could you please test Saucy via http://releases.ubuntu.com/saucy/ and advise to the results?

With live version of Saucy I get 1024x768, but also with the 14.04 running live I could get this resolution, the problem happened when I installed it.

maxmito, just to clarify, was their a prior version of Ubuntu that when you actually installed it, didn't reproduce this problem?

Hi Christopher I invite you to read again the thread :)

with:
14.04
13.04
12.04

All of them, running as LIVE, they are fine more or less, I can set a 1024x768 resolution.

If I install them no, I get get maximum 640x480.

I installed Linux Mint 16 and I don't have this issue, I can get 1024x768.

Thanks!
