prime-select failing to switch due to error: /usr/lib32/nvidia-331/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.1 does not exists

Updated from 13.10 to 14.04 then did "apt-get purge nvidia-* bumblebee* primus* bbswitch-dkms".
Then installed "apt-get install nvidia-331 nvidia-prime"

Now getting this trying to switch to nvidia with prime-select

If I use nvidia-settings to switch, then Xorg fails to start with this:

Those are just warnings. It must be something else.

Please reproduce the problem and attach the following:
1) the tarball created by "sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh"
2) your /var/log/gpu-manager.log
