prime-select failing to switch due to error: /usr/lib32/nvidia-331/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.1 does not exists

Bug Description
Updated from 13.10 to 14.04 then did "apt-get purge nvidia-* bumblebee* primus* bbswitch-dkms".
Then installed "apt-get install nvidia-331 nvidia-prime"
Now getting this trying to switch to nvidia with prime-select
:~$ sudo prime-select nvidia

If I use nvidia-settings to switch, then Xorg fails to start with this:
