Bug Description

I have a laptop with hybrid graphics Intel HD4000 + Nvidia 820M and I get no video after installing nvidia-331-updates.
X goes to low graphics mode.
This is working in 13.10 with nvidia-119-updates and nvidia-prime so this is a regression.
X.org log attached.
It seems the 820M card can't find any attached display devices and tries to set video mode NULL. On 14.04 the "Validated MetaModes" are NULL while on 13.10 they are "nvidia-auto-select".

I have exactly the same problem, Alienware M17x with intel+gtx 770M. Worked on 13.10, validated metamodes NULL after upgrade.

Here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-975864-view-next.html?sid=e2006e9e73f43aee38f618f369d24b31 They say, that the nvidia card might not be connected to the built in display. But i don't know how to circumvent this.

Saucy+nvidia-319 works with "nvidia.modeset=1". Do not add "nomodeset".
Saucy+nvidia-319-updates says "Validated MetaModes: "NULL"", and does not work, similarly to Trusty+nvidia-319-updates or Trusty+nvidia-337 from xorg-edgers.
The xorg.conf files are the ones that nvidia-prime installs. Blacklist nouvaeu are in place, installed by nvidia-prime as well. Specifying "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0" does not solve the problem.

So it would appear that this is STILL not fixed in 14.04.1. Can someone please look into this?
