Bug Description

I'm trying to use music-app on the desktop, and even though there is music in my Music folder, starting the app always results in it showing a dark screen with the messages "No music found" and "Please import music and restart the app". Nothing in the app can be interacted with except the shuffle, repeat and search buttons (the search never returns anything). Thus, I can't really use the app for anything.

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your bug report! Do you have 'mediascanner' installed? Once you have that installed you can start the daemon by running "start mediascanner". This should take a little while to populate the music library's database, but you can open the app again to verify that it is adding some of the music. If you still do not see any music in the app, perhaps you can run "mediascanner-service ~/Music/" and report any errors being produced.

Thanks!

Hi Victor, I ran sudo apt-get install mediascanner and it turned out that it wasn't installed. I started it with start mediascanner, and when reopening the Music app I can now see songs listed and play them.

Maybe mediascanner needs to be added as a dependency?
