Cannot left-click on Firefox tabs

Bug Description

From Firefox, I go to another application window (say Gnome Terminal), then when I go back to the FIrefox window the tabs are not clickable. When I hover the mouse cursor on a tab, it does not highlight that particular tab. Right clicking on the tab, however, brings up the correct menu (has the tab options).

Not sure how to replicate this bug. It seems random. Many times, shifting from one app window to another, then back to Firefox does not trigger this weird behavior. At first I thought it was related to a tab with Flash running in it, but it still happens without any.

Bug is reproducible with Thunderbird, although I still don't have a clue on what triggers the bug.
In the buggy state, the mouse highlight GUI elements lower than the mouse pointer actually is.
So, for example (with random numbers) if pointer.x = 100 & pointer.y = 100, then pointed.x = 120 & pointed.y = 100.
Temporary fix: unmaximizing and maximizing the windows again.

I've found the triggering event: it's minimizing the window. Reproducibility rate: every time.
Only happens to maximized windows. I have experienced this bug with Firefox, Thunderbird, Steam, Virtuabox.
Temporary fix: as I mentioned before, unmaximizing and maximizing the window.

I have tried out the new local menus, however, I changed back to the original menu paradigm days ago. Couldn't turning on this new feature temporarily have a side effect on my system?

@Peter Roos I can't always trigger this bug when minimizing the window. By the way, this bug also happened on Google Chrome. Not using local menus since for me it's useless on small screens.

I have two notebooks:

- HP Elitebook 8560w with Quadro 1000m and 331.38 proprietary driver
- HP Mini 210 with GMA3150 and default open source driver

I can trigger the bug on the Elitebook, however, I can't on the HP Mini. Could this be an nvidia driver related bug?

14.04 on notebook with intel. Since update to firefox 29.0 also no left klick possible, maximizing/minimizing/restarting whatsoever does not help. Only double click and right click are possible. Can change tabs only via ctrl-tab.
No problems changing tabs with rekonq, dolphin.
