Bug Description

I just install Trusty Desktop 64-bit from this daily ISO:

0a884e0fe10f703493a4f8ff993be5fd *trusty-desktop-amd64.iso

After booting into the new desktop, I'm not able to search and find any apps.

In particular, I'm searching for "terminal", trying to launch a Gnome Terminal. I'm offered The Terminator movie, for sale, but there's no terminal app returned.

In a separate issue, I search for Gimp, and I receive some not-safe-for-work results.

The NSFW comment is a BSDM result in the top line when searching for Gimp.

One log out and one log back in and it's fixed, and unfortunately that means we couldn't verify this with bustle. Do other users see this?

Is this a new installation of entire system, or was user home directory preserved?

In case this is reproducible, it would be useful to capture standard output & standard error of unity-lens-applications, e.g. kill existing process and start a new one from a terminal like this:

/usr/bin/unity-scope-loader applications/applications.scope applications/scopes.scope commands.scope

But I realise it can be challenging if terminal cannot be launched... To overcome that, app lens could be started from a text console, after setting DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS environment variable to the one current X session uses...
