Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-9-rt

I'm assuming this is a "known" but I couldn't find any info on where progress (if any!) is being tracked.

The description for the package reads (as in Feisty):
> Non-free Linux 2.6.22 modules on Realtime kernel
> This package provides restricted modules for Linux version 2.6.22 on
> Realtime kernel.

However, the fglrx and nvidia drivers are not present. (I'm guessing they break rt.) Looks like there might be some extra drivers, too?

Looks like the madwifi is missing and/or broken, too, but I think I'll submit a separate bug report for this.

The fglrx driver used to work in feisty with the -lowlatency kernel flavor. The -rt flavor is perhaps better than the -lowlatency one but at least it offered better compatibility with non-free drivers. Could it be resurrected ?

Hello,

I'm affected by this bug as well. I installed the -rt kernel as well as the matching l-r-m package only to find out that the nvidia driver is *not* included, although the description says it is. I hope this can be fixed.

I've just build nvidia-new-kernel-source using m-a on 2.6.22-11-rt. It's working and it even survived a few minutes of gaming so far.

The problem is partially fixed at least for nvidia and fglrx thanks to this upload:

linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (2.6.22.4-12.1) gutsy; urgency=low

  * ABI bump for -12
  * Upgrade nvidia-new driver to 100.14.19
  * Default to nvidia-new
  * Add patch to allow fglrx to compile with xen/rt flavours
  * Enable nvidia/fglrx on xen/rt flavours
