Bug Description

LOW priority bug, IMO.

Exists: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6

Clearly, hardinfo is looking in the wrong place on x64 machines. Otherwise, it seems to work fine.

Marked "fix released" because I can no longer reproduce the symptom as of Xubuntu 14.04.2. Yes, it might have been fixed in an earlier release.

This bug is still here, 14.04, hardinfo 0.5.1-1.2ubuntu4.

Open hardinfo and click on Computer/Summary.

'libc.so.6' location hardcoded here: https://github.com/lpereira/hardinfo/blob/4f89b7e8cc4419d4916199ddb6e1b8c5c7910d05/modules/computer/os.c#L32

HardInfo version 0.5.1

hardinfo -r generates
sh: 1: /lib/libc.so.6: not found
sh: 0: -c requires an argument

My comment #2 above was in error or `hardinfo` regressed since then.

In Xubuntu 16.04 (released), this is still an issue.
Version = 0.5.1-1.4ubuntu1

Diagnostics visible when running `sudo hardinfo -r`:
sh: 1: /lib/libc.so.6: not found
sh: 0: -c requires an argument

Changed in hardinfo (Ubuntu):
status: Fix Released → Confirmed

This should be fixed.

As of Ubuntu 17.10 there is a much newer package available with many fixes and improvements. Please try it and see if the issue is resolved.

See https://github.com/lpereira/hardinfo/issues/163.
