latency with polypaudio X bell

Bug Description

polypaudio plays a sound (*bump*) on responce of an X bell event.
But on my conputer there is a near 1s latency between the action and the sound.

I am also experience latency of approx. 1sec on all audio since change to
polypaudio. This is easily observable when pressing "pause" in Rhythmbox.

polypaudio is not supported on Ubuntu, and has been demoted to Universe. Bugs
against packages in Universe should be filed in http://launchpad.net/malone
