TrueCrypt icon does not display in notification area, therefore losing functionality

Running TrueCrypt in 14.04, the icon that is supposed to show in the notification area is not displayed. Therefore, cretain functionality of TrueCrypt is not available.

To duplicate the error:

1. Install TrueCrypt.
2. Run TrueCrypt and mount an encrypted container (create one if necessary).
3. Exit TrueCrypt with the Exit button.
4. TrueCrypt correctly remains running but its icon does not display in the notification area. The icon is supposed to display.
