LAMP fails to create necessary files in /var when LVM used

Bug Description

During installation I used LVM for /var and select LAMP server install option. Install worked (all partitions and filesystems created) but apache and MySQL did not create any necessary directories in /var such as /var/www.

I replicated this issue twice using various LVM volumes and groups and as long as /var was on LVM the LAMP installation did not work.

Not sure, as it mounted /var but just did not create necessary files for LAMP, but I will repeat the install process exactly for Alpha 5 and see if it happens again.

Did /var have its own lv and filesystem?

yes /var was on its own LVM (it was the only LVM on the machine on its own LVM group) and formatted as JFS.

Since the package apache was superseeded by apache2 and is not part of gusty, I believe this should be assigned to apache2. Please feel free to change it back if I am erroneous.
