Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-plugin-gnash

after installing mozilla-plugin-gnash 0.8.1~trunk.070802-0ubuntu1 neither firefox nor epiphany show gnash in about:plugins, and they are unable to show flash movies.

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/gnash/libgnashplugin.so /usr/lib/epiphany/2.19/plugins

get epiphany working, so it appears to be a symlink problem.

this is not fixed for me.

i have done a purge and reinstall of all firefox, epiphany-browser and gnash packages.

there seem to be symlinks
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so -> /etc/alternatives/firefox-flashplugin -> /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so
for each of firefox, mozilla, iceape, epiphany etc.

what package makes these? they dont go when you uninstall the browsers.

i dont have flashplugin-nonfree installed.

it is possible that i have just got my symlinks is a mess. if someone says that it works on a clean system, then i am probably wrong

I also have this problem, except i just coped it over cp /usr/lib/gnash/libgnashplugin.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
anyhow, could this have also messed up flashplugin-nonfree, since I have reinstalled that (and uninstalled gnash) and it does not see the nonfree flashplayer (aka it does not work anymore).

uninstall all flash packages and manually remove the left over
alternative that was installed by accident.

I don't fix this in post/pre scripts because its not trivial and it
should just affect users that installed the bad gnash package
... which was replaced within a day or so.

if you still see this, even though you have removed all alternatives manually before installing flash packages again, just drop a note.
