Bug Description
I have recently found that evince 3.6.1 (3.6.1-1ubuntu) will only display
the first page of certain PDF files. I can open the files in Adobe Reader
XI under Windows 7 Enterprise. In this manner I can confirm that the
documents have more than one page.
Evince properly handles the majority of PDF documents that I come across.
It appears that the files that evince "thinks" have only 1 page are PDF
version 1.7 according to file(1).
Here is an example. The "Manuals for HP 6125XLG Ethernet Blade Switch"
document listing [1] on hp.com lists several PDF files. "HP 6125XLG
Blade Switch Installation Guide" [2] opens correctly and evince shows
it has 33 pages (which Adobe Reader agrees with). Firefox has saved a
temporary copy of it, and file(1) shows:
$ file /tmp/Download-2.pdf
/tmp/
The "R2306-HP 6125XLG Blade Switch Command References" document [3]
opens in evince, but evince shows that it has only 1 page (see file
"evince-
various lengths. The first title, "About the HP 6125XLG Blade Command
Refernces" is 8 pages.
file(1) for this pdf shows:
$ file /tmp/emr_
/tmp/
Perhaps it is these "composite" PDF files that evince can't handle.
