Bug Description

I find it very convenient to group (via the compiz group plugin) the pigin "buddies" window
with the conversation window however if the buddies window gets hidden by single clicking
the tray icon it (seems to) becomes un-grouped (fair enough for the time being!)

However! clicking the pidgin tray icon again does not result in the buddies window coming
back, its like its still grouped but invisible, minimise animations will happen on a blank area
where the buddies window should have been.

I tried un-grouping the conversation window but this didn't seem to work

to reiterate to repeat this bug:
use compiz group plugin to group main buddies and conversation windows
hide main window by single clicking the tray icon

Thanks for your bug report.
Could you please post your compiz and gaim version.
You can do this by running the following commands in terminal:
compiz --version
pidgin --version
Thanks.

Yes, you already mentioned you are using gutsy. But to be sure it is better to say what versions you are actually using.
Can you reproduce this bug with another program with tray functionality? For example rhythmbox?
Thanks in advance

Theres little point asking for version numbers when I update daily and they
quite often change

The nature of the bug has changed and can also be replicated with another app
in this case banshee and a terminal window

group banshee main window and any other window
click banshee tray icon
windows now become ungrouped

they should stay grouped and the hidden window reshow itself on
either tray icon click(doing a group tab if needed) or group tab?

I can't reproduce your bug. If I click the tray icon the window gets ungrouped. If I click the tray icon again the window comes back but stays ungrouped. No wrong animations either.
If anyone else can reproduce this bug you can fill out a bug report upstream.

It is possible this is a combination of compiz plugins not playing nicely as I have
noticed intermittent behaviour, can you try again with as many of the compiz plugins as possible
enabled - thanks

I can no longer produce this and believe it has been fixed, please reopen if you still get this with an up-to-date gutsy install.

While it no longer makes the window invisible, it does forcibly ungroup the window
which makes the whole idea of the plugin kind of pointless

says who, why bother grouping them then?

Why bother shrinking it to the tray icon if it's grouped?

accidental click.... or maybe you only want it in the group
occasionally, just breaking
something without asking just because its been hidden with another method
isnt desirable, think outside the case of gaim and to the plugins
general usefulness
