Bug Description

When opening an image, the zoom level is displayed as 100%, but the image is visibly blurry from being slightly zoomed out. There are a few pixels of black bar on the right and left edges of the image. Expanding the window vertically lets the image display at 1:1 zoom.

This occurs with images that should be small enough to be displayed at 100% zoom. For example: a 960x540 image on a 1920x1080 display.

I can't reproduce the issue with High Contrast theme. Adding light-themes task here.

This bug is still present in Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Unity 7.3.1, eog 3.12.2-0ubuntu2, with both default Ambiance GTK theme and with Radiance GTK theme. Also here, the bug is not present with High Contrast GTK theme.

It looks like it's no longer reproducible on vivid. I'm not sure where exatly it's fixed.

I have a similar zoom issue with Ubuntu 17.10 (Xorg).
Since I have a HiDPI display, I use the 200% scaling option and assume that this might be correlated with the issue.

When I open a screenshot of 1246x878px, it is displayed in EOG at about the correct size, however is looks anti-aliased and EOG says it is 50% zoom and not 100%.
Shotwell shows a similar behavior, Gimp and RawTherapee work fine.
