Why do we want to do this considering it's an obsolete package?

Just to have it synced with Debian, when Ubuntu Archive Admins decide to remove it, it's their choice =)

Put it differently, why are you making work for the archive admins to sync a package no one should be using.

This is an old package that no one should be usinging anymore anyway.

In Debian python-f2py is the only package that still depends on python-scipy-core. In Ubuntu python-f2py is just synced, so also depends on python-scipy-core.

I agree with Scott that we should try to get rid of python-scipy-core instead of just syncing from Debian, while nobody really understands the pacakge.

And I think that's in error as I find no reference to imports from scipy-core in the python-f2py code.

It looks like the f2py code was updated, but the dependency in the package was not. I'll look into this some more and then prepare a new revision for f2py if I confirm it.

Scott, you might also try to look in to whether f2py is even needed at all. I seem to remember that upstream may have integrated it into numpy but I'm not sure.
