display problem Mint 16 petra x86_64 - Radeon HD 8450G

i am having this problem...

I can run a ubuntu-bug when I get home..

here is the info I have now.

i just bought a lenovo thinkpad edge.
installed Linux Mint 16 Petra .

my display is making strange lines and blinking .. i assume i have a driver issue??

I installed Linux_AMD_Catalyst_14.3_Beta_V1.0_B22_March12_2014.zip that I got on amd.com and it fixed the issue..
however I did download the BETA kit.. the stable driver did not work... it crashed cinnamon.

ill attach the ubuntu-bug report.

So...when the AMD driver is made stable and added to the Ubuntu repos, all will be good?

im not sure if it would be added... this installer was straight from AMD site.

here we are.. about a year later...i rebooted and it happen again... X crashed..

i revert back by uninstalling amd's stuff.. i get my desktop back but its choppy and tearing..
i tried to reinstall Linux_AMD_Catalyst. it gets the spash screen back but when it tries to log me in it just spins
i never get a desktop..
im going to see if I can find anything in the logs..
I noticed that fglxr is in the package manager now but that did not fix the tearing.

figured out how to get my display working..
i had to installed the standard fglrx from the package manager..
then ran driver-manager and selected fglrx
