Bug Description

70% increase from 12.04 to 14.04 of /usr/share/alsa/ucm [ARM Files in X86] aka libasound2

120K via du -h in 12.04
204k in 14.04

Seems unreasonable for a bunch of files that don't even belong on x86.

Its not affecting the functionality of your system is it? To only package the ucm files for arm would make the packaging somewhat more complex, and diverge us even more from Debian.

If you are space constrained, deleting these files should not be a problem.

I was under the impression that Ubuntu was space constrained, as the reasoning for not including VDPAU in 14.04. As the total of all ARM bloat on x86 is near the difference, this does leave many without future OOTB functionality- simply for existing.

FWIW, I agree with UserError that it is bloat, but as Luke points out, we should probably fix this in Debian rather than to introduce a delta.
I'm not sure if 200k bloat even counts as a bug, so setting to Wishlist priority.
