Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

I can confirm that a downgrade to the 13.10 Saucy packages did the trick an Kleopatra now works again correctly. I had to perform the following downgrades:

gpgsm:amd64 2.0.22-3ubuntu1 -> 2.0.20-1ubuntu3
libgpgme11:amd64 1.4.3-0.1ubuntu3 -> 1.4.2-0.1ubuntu3
libgpgme++2:amd64 4:4.12.95-0ubuntu1 -> 4:4.11.2-0ubuntu1
libqgpgme1:amd64 4:4.12.95-0ubuntu1 -> 4:4.11.2-0ubuntu1
scdaemon:amd64 2.0.22-3ubuntu1 -> 2.0.20-1ubuntu3

This is a regression introduced in gpgme1.0 1.4.3-0.1ubuntu2 which completely disables the gpgsm (S/MIME) and gpgconf backends.

Could you please test this package:
https://launchpad.net/~debfx/+archive/experimental/+packages?field.name_filter=gpgme1.0

It basically reverts the changes from 1.4.3-0.1ubuntu2 and fixes a build failure,

Hi Felix,

It does allow the tests to pass at the Kleopatria startup.

The cursory look that I took the the app, show that everything appears to be
working.

Thanks for jumping on the Felix!

Regards,

Terry
