Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdm
The current default behavior for KDM is to scale the background picture Across All Screens (as specified in the Login Manager settings). However, KDM actually redraws the background stretched across only the default monitor (on which the login dialog is displayed). What you end up with is the background fully displayed on the default monitor, and half the background stretched across the secondary monitor.
By setting the default behavior to On Each Screen, both screens will properly show the background.
This should be a bug (not wishlist) because of the distortion of the artwork on the secondary monitor.

This is a problem on hardy currently.
I don't know if it should be defaulted to each screen because with the usual background art stretched looks ok.
The issue also seems to be that an extra background is drawn on the display with the login which is redundant and a waste of resources on slower machines. When you set it to show on individual screens I'm still not sure that the primary screen isn't drawing it's own on top again.
I can't change the background anyway with the Login Manager settings in System Settings so I can't really test what's wrong it seems like. Looks like the settings are wrote to /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc but don't get picked up when a new session is started.
