I encounter this problem on my desktop pc that has just been freshly installed with Ubuntu 14.04 on a regular basis. No changes or tweaks to Unity. The problem started right after install. I have two laptops running Ubuntu with Unity not having this problem.

The crash is triggered when you open multiple windows of the same application and click on the application icon in the launcher bar. The first time I do this compiz can recover itself and I get a Apport notification. If I accidentally trigger the bug a second time it completely crashes, does not recover and launcher, window borders as well as menubar are gone.

Using Alt+Tab to switch the window works without problems.

#7 behaviour is exactly that i have been facing since last two versions of ubuntu.
I had hoped that LTS would be stable and would fix this very very annoying bug.
But no this didnt happen.
Happened for Ubuntu 14.04.1
and now with Ubuntu 14.10 aswell. NO change at all.
