Bug Description

Hello,

this is not exactly a bug, but more a kind feedback about the displaying
of calendars in elementary.

According to me, the calendar in the top system bar feels weird:
   1) the popup is tiny: it feels like more screen real estate could be devoted
to display the calendar (and maybe events of the day, and/or meteo?)
   2) the look and feel is so different from maya. I know that those are two
different applications and arguably two different use cases (glancing over
the calendar and launching a full blown calendar app), but it feels odd.
   3) the calendar management doesn't feel integrated system wide

I don't know if that's feasible (or even a good idea) to use maya to display the
calendar popup, but I feel that the layout of the popup could be modified to
  a) be bigger
  b) mimic the layout of maya (that is much clearer than the current popup)

Cheers,
Carl.

It would be great to use the look and feel of the maya
calendar popover that is both beautiful and clear.

Hey Carl, the calendar indicator is the same one that is used and developed by Ubuntu, indicator-datetime.

This indicator is very disconnected from the system, and I agree that it should be integrated better.

Although not a duplicate, bug 1185910 is quite similar to this one.

Another method for integration is to display EDS events in the indicator, although that may not be smiled upon by the QML leaning Ubuntu upstream.

Fedora 21 or gnome shell (I am not sure at that point) is doing a very interesting thing with its system calendar.

Thinking of taking this up to implement the fedora21 mock up. Any idea on what will be a good approach to pick up the events from Maya calendar for this.

Looks like this can be achieved in a way by selecting events in the dconf editor for indicator date-time.
