Bug Description

I'm using Kubuntu 14.04 64 bit on a Dell E5440 machine. After installing the alpha2 version two weeks ago wakeup from sleep was working fine. I update the system everyday and during last week something broke this feature. From then I have updated the bios (from A00 version June 2013 to A04 January 2014) and I've seen other bugs (VGA out among others) fixed, but not this one.

When the system wakes from sleep the login screen appears, but mouse/keyboard don't working. I have found that plugin something to the VGA out and unplugin it will bring mouse/keyboard alive again, but this solution only works for the first time I enter sleep mode. Ctrl+Alt+F6 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 to return to the graphics mode ends with a black screen (the mouse works, but no login is possible). I installed the graphics driver with Optimus support (Prime), keeping active the Nvidia card GT720M.

I have tested the wakeup problem again using integrated graphics and no issue appears in this case, so this bug is related to the dual card configuration Intel/Nvidia, maybe the prime package. Probably wakeup was always fine using integrated graphics and it appears for me after configuring NVidia prime.

affects: linux (Ubuntu) → nvidia-prime (Ubuntu)

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, you meant 3.14.0rc6. I have also tested this and is not installing properly, conflict with nvidia module.

The update to prime 0.6 released today does not solve this bug, the mouse still does not respond on wakeup. But the Ctrl+Alt+F6 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 ends with a correct login screen with mouse working, so the session can be unlocked, though some visual artifacts appears (bakground image lost is some of the desktops) and in the top bar of some apps like Chrome. Also there's some slowdowon in the system.

Thomas,

could you open a terminal and insert the following command via copy & paste

echo; for i in --suspend --hibernate --suspend-hybrid; do pm-is-supported $i && echo "$(echo $i | tr [:lower:] [:upper:] | tr -d -) is supported"; done; echo

And return the result?

Background: In general the STR /STD abiity is turned off by default. With the execption of machines that are know /tested to function on this. These are Ubuntu-certified.

An update released today solves this problem completely, so this bug can be closed. Seems to be the update of libcuda1. Thanks to all for your support!
