Bug Description

In the last few weeks or so I've noticed the HUD on my 14.04 laptop pops up way more than it ever used to, when not wanted.

I am always in an app (irssi in screen in terminator) where I press ALT+w sometimes, many times a day. Often I get the HUD popup and frantically stab escape or alt to get rid of it. I've always had it pop up in the past now and then but now it's many times a day.

As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS I have tested this on 15.10 and the bug is still there. I usually work around it by changing the HUD key combination to <alt>+<z>, but this might not work for someone who uses the HUD extensively (I do not).

It should have high importance, because is confuses the hell out of people coming from Windows. Surely, it is worth considering to lower the steep learning curve for Ubuntu!

But there is serious problem here.

My mother (92) was quite happy on Windows XP, but not so on Ubuntu. She is capable of some adjustment, but used to work as secretary and types fast, assuming that her keystrokes are what she intended. As a consequence, she regularly misses popups after hitting a wrong key and cannot recover from what went 'wrong'.

And I myself regularly feel frustrated when wanting to use some alt-key and not being quick enough so that I get the HUD instead.

I think that <super>(tap) should open the HUD instead of the Dash (which I find of limited use anyway).

Changing the key to open the HUD to <super> also makes life so much easier when working on legacy Windows programs in VirtualBox.
