Bug Description

Knetworkmanager stops working properly after I restart, turn off, suspend or hibernate. The icon in the system tray is visible, but knetworkmanager doesn't show any of my networks. I have one wired and one wireless network, but knetworkmanager shows either only the wired network or no networks at all. When I click on Manual Configuration, though, I can see them both. Is there a way I could restart the network manager completely, start it up from scratch again? Because, when I reinstall Kubuntu, all the networks are clearly visible and work. If there's any more info I could give, please let me know, I'm right here. I'm running Kubuntu Feisty, fresh CD install, no updates whatsoever.

Are there alternatives to knetworkmanager?

System log here. I managed to connect via the wired network, and hence the internet access. Wireless doesn't work, though.

can you try
        sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
and see if that fixes the issue?

Restarting networking did fix the issue, though I had to do it every time I restarted or turned off the machine. I've long since started to connect via console and stopped using KNetworkManager and the like.

An alternative way to make knetworkmanager function is to set it to "offline mode" and then resume the online mode - the applet will start functioning again. Moreover, this bug only affects knetworkmanager, not any other application, as for example wlassistant works nicely after suspension without any tricks.
