Bug Description

It would seem from looking at the file: scripts/casper-bottom/23networking (part of the initrd of the Feisty Live CD ISO), that it's impossible to set a static IP address?

There is mention of "${STATICIP}" in this file, but I cannot find anything about where this is declared or assigned? The man page for casper indicates that one can set the 'ip' boot parameter for static IP addresses but this does not seem to work. The 'init' file (also part of the initrd on the Feisty Live CD), uses IPOPTS to store the boot parameters.

Is this a bug or have I just missed something?

I omitted to note the bug in the changelog, so:

casper (1.95) gutsy; urgency=low

  * Fix regex syntax error while looking for non-CD devices for driver
    updates.
  * Fix ip= boot parameter, documented but not properly merged from Debian.
