Bug Description

I am sorry to say this but the popup image browser in Website Builder is absolute useless and unprofessional and should be replaced immediately as it is missing very basic but necessary features. We worked now on several test sites and it is one reason not to use OpenERP for Customers if it does not get improved immediately.

Why?
1.
When you have uploaded images all images get sorted alphabetically I guess as they are NOT in the order you have uploaded them. If you now search for an image you will have big difficulties to find a specific image especially as you cannot even find them by their encrypted URLs - i.e. if you would like to replace an image or test if another image might look better.

Solution to 1:
As a professional Webdevelopper and even as a newbie editor you really NEED to see theat least the title of an image this is a MUST. This Image Browser is the wrong place for Try and Error methods.

2.
The PopUp Image Browser shows always Images. There is no way at all to show i.e.. the titles of an image or the URLs of an image.
If you have many images they will get displyed in many new windows which you can reach by clicking the "Next" button. Everytime all images get rebuild and it takes a whole lot of time doing that - especially if you are on an iPad with 3G or a slow Internet Connection.

Solution to 2:
By default all images should get displayed in a sortable listview with very small thumbnail and even that very small thumbnail should be able to be deactivated. About 50 Images and more could be displayed at a time. How many images should get displayed should be configurable in the same screen - this way editors can reduce bandwith and get faster loading popup pages by choosing no images in list view and the right amount of images to be seen on one page. The popup page itself should be touch enabled and scrollable in the popup window.

3.
There is no way to find out the resolution of an image. As OpenERP does NOT provide automatic Image Processing with GraphicsMagick or ImageMagick like TYPO3 does since the beginning or Drupal 8 will do starting with Version 8, you need to upload multiple Versions of one Image in different resolutions. Unfortunately the Image Browser does NOT display the resolution or filesize of an image but the small image itself looks quite similar and it is very difficult and takes wasted hours to find out all thumbnails you want to upload instead of uploading the full size images.

And to be honest it is waste of storage space and will cause lots of inconsitency if everytime you would upload an image you would upload a new version from your computer.

Solution for 3:
Simply display the resolution on the preview image or below the image. It is very very essential to know if you need to have a thumbnail and with a click on it it should open up a bigger version of the same image. In the image Browser both look the same.

4.
There is no way to clean the image browser from images which are NOT used anymore on the site. As all images get stored in the database this would be a quite easy task.

Solution for 4:
Checking if an image is still in use and if not move it in another folder (path) for images not in use and than providing the editor a mask so that he can choose or delete all images out of this folder. The same there could be a simple warning to the editor that an image sis still in use if he tries to delete a certain image - This feature would be a great and unique feature for OpenERP too.

5.
There is no way to enter caption, title text, alternative text and descriptive accessibility text to an image, nor is it possible that the exif data of an image get processed or read. In Terms of SEO every Image without at least one of those features enabled and processed is a waste of time and waste of image as Search Engines can't really target it the right way.

Solution to 5:
Title (this can be the filename)
Filename
Add caption (The text below an image)
Add title text (The text which pops up when you move over an image)
Add alternative text (The text which gets displayed by default when an image gets not displayed (instead of all those (no image)-icons
Add the possibility to add a linked text file as descriptive text for sight impacted people. (This feature is very essential for BICT and other standards in Web from different EU countries to fullfil their requirement for accessible websites.
--
furthermore it should be possible to display and to sort:
filesize
path
creation date
modification date
exif data (could be done by hoovering or tapping on an icon called (exif)

----

Sorry if this list now looks a bit like harsh but I am sorry to say this what we have available right now is simply unusable for professional surroundings. OpenERP Website Builder want to revolutionize the way people are building their websites and it is on the best way in reaching its goal but for sure if this image-browser stays like it is it will be a complete NO GO for most of the professional companies and agencies as how OpenERP is managing its imagery is simply a waste of time and very very time consuming.

Please replace it to a really working one asap. Thanks
