Bug Description

I've recently released upstream gourmet 0.17.0. I've also updated the Ubuntu package from 0.16.1 (attaching a diff for the debian/ directory)

@ubuntu-release: Please grant an FFe.
@ubuntu-sponsors: Please upload to trusty.

Rationale:
This is mostly a bugfix release wrt 0.16.1 and fixes a large number of bugs reported for 0.16.1 and earlier versions.
(The incremented minor version number is mostly for indicating that this includes a Windows version, where there hasn't been one long before.)

Release notes are at https://github.com/thinkle/gourmet/releases/tag/0.17.0

04:48 < infinity> ockham: So, a few things: (a) why the added ipython Recommends? (b) can you get it updated in Debian instead and ask for a sync?
04:48 < infinity> ockham: None of the upstream changes look like they need an FFe, it's just simple bugfixes.
04:49 < infinity> ockham: But the ipython Recommends is a bit heavy unless that one file/interface is a critically important part of the overall package. If it's not, I'd suggest dropping that to Suggests.
04:49 < infinity> ockham: And I'd definitely suggest forwarding any packaging improvements to Debian instead of forking in Ubuntu.

If the above is addressed (forwarding to Debian, re-evaluating the Recommends), I'm fine with this FFe, though I'd rather see it as a sync request from unstable than a -0ubuntu1.

(a) ipython: required for the corresponding "interactive python shell" gourmet plugin (which is part of the upstream code and can be activated through the Plugins menu item). As comparable requirements (like python-gtkspell for the spell check plugin, or python-beautifulsoup for the web page import plugin) have so far been part of Recommends, too, I added ipython to that section instead of using Suggests.
(b) I emailed a modified version of gourmet.diff -- with only the changes to Debian's 0.16.1-1 -- to the maintainer of the Debian package right after filing this bug report, but I felt I shouldn't wait for him to react in order not to waste too much time after trusty's FF.

So I'm obviously okay with moving ipython to Suggests, and I'm all for keeping this synced with Debian, but as I can't predict how long it's going to take them to update, I'd rather make sure 0.17.0 is in trusty anyway.

Bernhard, I think it would be a good idea for you to file a wishlist bug in the Debian BTS about this. I don't mind this landing in Ubuntu ahead of Debian, but we would want to make sure the Debian upload doesn't get lost completely.

Unsubscribing sponsors as the FFe has not been approved yet. Please subscribe back when it is, or, as others suggested, get this done in Debian first.

Debian now has 0.17.0-1, so please sync.
(It's not exactly related to my diff -- e.g. it doesn't have ipython either in Recommends: nor in Suggests:, as apparently the maintainer chose to omit it.)
