Update-intel-microcode can't find latest microcode file because Intel's version number is not correct and hence filename can't be found

Bug Description

Intel did not follow the convention it had been following up to now to name the microcode files as microcode-<version>.tgz. The latest version in the website is 2014122 whereas the actual file is named microcode-20140122.tgz (note the missing zero in the version). This causes update-intel-microcode to croak on extracting the tar file that is not there.

I can probably come up with a quick work-around that simply converts version 2014122 to 20140122 as a special case. Anyone has any other ideas on a quick fix? I doubt I can get Intel to rename the version in their website.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and the package being installed is 1.17-13.1ubuntu2

Looks like Intel just fixed the incorrect version in the January microcode so a work-around won't be needed. This report can now be closed.
