Bug Description

Binary package hint: upx-ucl-beta

The package upx-ucl-beta contains a beta version of UPX 3. UPX 3 is released now and in universe (upx-ucl) and multiverse (upx-nrv). upx-ucl-beta is an old version that should be removed.

upx-ucl-beta is in main, though. I don't know the reason for this. If there is a reason for upx-ucl-beta being in main, upx-ucl should be moved to main after the removal of upx-ucl-beta.

correct, upx-ucl-beta should be promoted to main, upx-ucl-beta demoted to universe (after a package sync from debian); it currently is an empty package just depending on upx-ucl.

upx-ucl promoted to main.

debian-installer is the only package in the entire universe that needs upx-ucl-beta (build dependency). Once d-i is moved over to upx-ucl, I can remove upx-ucl-beta from the archive.

Synced upx-ucl-beta, which turns it into a transitional package.

[Updating] upx-ucl-beta (1:2.93-2ubuntu1 [Ubuntu] < 1:3~dummy.1 [Debian])
 * Trying to add upx-ucl-beta...
  - <upx-ucl-beta_3~dummy.1.tar.gz: downloading from http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/>
  - <upx-ucl-beta_3~dummy.1.dsc: downloading from http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/>
I: upx-ucl-beta [main] -> upx-ucl-beta_1:2.93-2ubuntu1 [main].

removal of upx-ucl-beta from the archive is not critical for alpha-2. d-i's build dep should be changed, though, that's a trivial thing to do.

Changed in upx-ucl-beta:
milestone: hardy-alpha-2 → none

debian-installer (20070308ubuntu23) hardy; urgency=low

  * Switch from upx-ucl-beta to upx-ucl, now that it's out of beta.
  * Move to 2.6.24-2 kernels.
  * Encapsulate UTF-8 encoding pain differently in
    build/util/help-to-gfxboot.py. (The resulting code is longer but I think
    the horribleness is better-positioned.)

I demoted upx-ucl-beta to universe. Since the transitional packages are needed for upgrades, I don't remove them entirely yet. After Hardy is released, this can happen.
