Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-386

Ubuntu Gutsy.

Nvidia 6100 chipset based motherboard/ AMD Athlon 3200+ CPU, 1G DDR2 RAM.
Enter BIOS. Enable S3 STR.

Boot machine with Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 3 25/7/07. Kernel (uname -r) 2.6.22-8-386.

Hit sleep button or go System->Quit->Suspend

Expected behaviour:
display blank, hard drive power down, case fans and PSU fans stop. Northbridge generate very little heat. Possibility to wake from sleep.
Actual behaviour:
Display blanks, hard drive powers down, chassis, PSU and CPU fans keep spinning. Motherboard northbridge continues to generate heat.

Hit key combination to wake from suspend. No reaction.

Verifying problem:
Unplug system. Re-start system.
Open terminal. As root do
rmmod ohci_hcd
hit sleep button. System goes to sleep as expected. Hit wake key combination. System powers up and becomes responsive again. Repeat procedure again to verify. All checks out.

modprobe ohci_hcd
hit sleep. Symptoms persist. Case fan/PSU fan continue spinning. Machine must be unplugged then re-started.

To be attached: output of lshw with ohci_hcd loaded.

Thanks for your bug report.

Nick:
Do you have the NVIDIA binary driver loaded? Additionally can you include the output of
cat /proc/interrupts
?
