Standard Shortcut Ctrl+Q doesn't quit the application

Bug Description

Most of the standard applications in Ubuntu, Gnome and KDE use a standard shortcut ctrl+q for application quit along with Alt+F4 which is a system shortcut.
Unity tweak Tool does not follow this convention by default, which breaks the flow of a user used to these shortcuts.

I did notice that Ctrl+Q is mapped to quit in most applications, but can you provide a reference to show it is accepted standard?

I don't think there is a HIG for this, but you don't particularly go for Ctrl+q, you can use ctrl+w or ctrl+shift+q.
A quick google search "gnome ctrl q" will give you how many apps use it (almost all gnome apps, even java apps like netbeans, phpstorm, eclipse), but there are people who don't like ctrl+q as it can accidently close windows so you can go for other shortcuts even.
The reason why I am pointing this out is that many people use media buttons as default instead of function keys, like in mac or with fn lock on dell or samsung. So using alt+f4 becomes a bit difficult.

Hi,
this is in Gnome guidelines in : https://developer.gnome.org/hig/stable/keyboard-input.html.en

There is a section: Standard application shortcuts where we can find:
Quit | Ctrl+Q | Closes the application, including all application windows.
Best.
