Bug Description

Default dash9.
What applying the dynamic brake, the current increase appear to follow throttle current.
IE, notch 4 dynamic amps goes to 700, notch 8 dynamic amps goes off the scale.

I believe that throttle amps is being applied to the dynamic brake, instead of the dynamic brake amps.

The bug has been here for some months.

Please try the latest release (v2060 and higher). Try it for more locomotives, if you can (I have limited rolling stock).

Hi Matej,

With the default dash9, that traction current stays at 1800 amps, and
there is no dynamic current at all.

cheers
Derek

Hi,
well, I have the most recent version X.2065 and I can see the dynamic brake current. For the default Dash9 the current is at 1200 Amps with B8 notch at 40 mph and falls to zero at 10 mph - the current is zero if speed is between 0 and 10 mph. Can you please check the behavior?

Hi Matej,

What route/activity did you check with?

cheers

Hi, just the MSTS original Marias Pass and Dawn tank train. I believe that dynamic brake current is not route/activity problem.

There is a problem with the way Open Rails uses the MSTS dynamic brake parameters. The numbers in DynamicBrakesMinUsableSpeed, DynamicBrakesMaximumEffectiveSpeed, DynamicBrakesCutInSpeed, DynamicBrakesFadingSpeed, and DynamicBrakesMaximumSpeedForFadeOut default to mph in MSTS if no units are present. Open Rails defaults to meters per second. This obviously causes the dynamic brakes to cut out at higher speeds than in MSTS.

Fixed in r2086.

Sorry, I mean the unit conversion between mph and m/s was fixed, not the main issue here.

The problem is in MSTSLocomotiveViewer.CabViewGaugeRenderer.PrepareFrame(). It calculates the painting range from Max value even if the Min value should be taken into account. The data from MSTSLocomotive are passed correctly.

I fixed (hopefully) the CabViewGaugeRenderer too in r2093. Thank you, Matěj for the hint!
