Bug Description

Dear Ubuntu developers!

I understand that unity-control-center is on alpha stage.

But please sync unity-control-center appearance on Unity and GNOME FlashBack sessions.

For example for now keyboard shortcuts settings are missed in GNOME FlashBack sessions. Ubuntu users which use GNOME Classic desktop, not Unity (for example, me) can't set keyboard settings from unity-control-center.

Made a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04, installed gnome-panel package.
As a result I have gnome-control-center and unity-control-center.
So please adapt unity-control-center to GNOME sessions and throw away gnome-control-center.

Thank you for reply, Robert!

It seems that gnome-control-center was installed as recommendation.
I removed (completely, with purge) gnome-control-center, gnome-control-center-data, libgnome-control-center packages. So for now I have:
~$ apt-cache policy gnome-control-center*

- so there is no gnome-control-center in my system.
But unity-control-center looks poor in GNOME FlashBack session (see my screenshot in comment #1).

I will fix the missing icons problem on gnome-session-flashback side (by setting session name to Unity).

I think this fix will be a hack, not real fix.
It may cause unpredictable results in other situations.
But you may try, and I can test.

That is not a hack. Tim asked me to do that because he is going to update
gnome-settings-daemon to 3.10, which will remove some features used by
flashback session.

Identifying as Unity will make us use unity-settings-daemon instead.

Please note: I reinstalled gnome-panel and it installed gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon as dependencies.

Tested "unity-control-center keyboard" and "unity-control-center appearance" in Unity and GNOME FlashBack (Metacity and Compiz) sessions - they work.

If I set keyboard layout switch to Ctrl+Shift I unable to use shortcuts started with Ctrl+Shift+ in GNOME FlashBack sessions, but before unity-control-center fork it worked I remember (it's another bug I know).

Tested on daily image 2014-03-16 - bug is fIxed in all GNOME sessions (Metacity, Compiz).
But gnome-control-center and its friends is installed as dependencies of gnome-panel (or gnome-session-flashback).

Dmitry, I think the difference comes from dependendency and recommedation resolution while installing software. I do not remeber exactly from which application I installed gnome-panel packages, but I use all of them - synaptic, aptitude and apt-get.
