Bug Description

When an error occurs during the updates process, it is presented on a non-wrapping line near the bottom of the screen. <https://launchpadlibrarian.net/210823424/1282499-device-2014-02-07-112816.png> This is okay for debugging, but unattractive and unhelpful for widespread use.

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#installing-mobile-system>: "If installation fails, an alert should appear, with title “Installation Failed”, text depending on the error, and an “OK” button that returns to the update listing."

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#installing-mobile-other>: "If a manual download or installation fails, or a background download has failed repeatedly, the text “Download failed” or “Installation failed” should replace the item’s status text. (An alert should not be used, because the error might occur while “Updates” is not the current screen or “System Settings” isn’t even the focused app.) Below this should be text describing the particular error, for example..."
