Bug Description

Installing ubuntu-desktop-mir results in a black screen. XMir is nowhere to be seen, but I do hear the startup sound play.

Running:
  sudo mir_demo_client_*
works fine, and the demo clients appear on screen.

So it seems only XMir is broken and not appearing.
