I tried to update to 12.04.3, knowing that is the last stop for my beloved ThinkPad T42 with its non-PAE CPU.

I did not realize and did not read that 12.04.3 required a PAE CPU. Now I cannot get any updates or past the following error messages:

This kernel does not support a non-PAE CPU.

I am not certain WHICH packages have unmet dependencies as the updater is not trying to install

The Update Manager says the following in the description about trying to install “Linux kernel image for version 3.11.0 on 32 bit x86 SMP”
