Yes, test with revision 6672, only occur at the startup of stellarium

If you move your mouse cursor to the tool bar and the tool bar show up, the width of the tool bar become normal again

The main problem comes from the fact that the bottom bar path is not updated when a plugin dynamically adds a button. I made a branch that should fix this:
