ubuntu crashes on opening video

If i open any video file in totem or vlc or smplayer, it automatically goes to tty1, logs out of my user and takes me to lightdm login screen. Has been an issue since kernel 3.13.7. Please fix soon

Yes.. Totem plays fine except for the odd stuttering.. But vlc and sm player still crash and take me to the unity greeter (Log in screen) if I try to open any video in them

I'm changing the affected package to unity, since this seems a problem with the graphical system.

It would be useful if you closed this bug (by marking the Status as "Invalid") and open a new one with
ubuntu-bug unity
