Bug Description

We have seen this a lot recently. 13.10 was fine with our video card since Oct 2013, but in the last couple of months we have seen X freezing. This is becoming more frequent.

I've seen this after a successful boot. The only programme I ran was Terminal and SSH. After leaving the computer for 20 mins I came back and the screen was fronzen.

Exact symptoms were: some horrizontal lines appeared across the screen. The mouse cursor still moved, however mouse clickes did nothing, and keyboard input (including ctrl-alt-del) did nothing.

Videon card is TURKS RADEON 6670/7670

I've gathered logs (attached) in the error state, and a reg dump in normal state.

Previous symptoms included the horrizontal shift getting messed up with the right/left boarder of the screen appearing 3/4 of the way across the monitor.

Sorry - I meant to post this on the video driver project - probably 'fglrx' is the best fit project description judging from my jockey-text output:

$ jockey-text -l
kmod:fglrx - Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use)
kmod:fglrx_updates - ATI Fire GL (Proprietary, Enabled, Not in use)

I'm not sure how to transfer this bug to another project - is this something you can do?

affects: fuel → fglrx
Changed in fglrx:
milestone: 4.1 → none

I've reassigned the project - hopefully this is the correct project. I realise that this bug hasn't be triaged, but I couldn't find a top level 'video drivers' or 'GPU bugs' to log this too.

Launchpad is a great service, but for infrequent users it's not clear where to post bugs for triage.

Let me know if you need more information or if there is a better project to put this under.

NOTE: as at 6 Feb 2014 this bug hasn't been assigned to AMD.
