Bug Description

Hi,

I have Ubuntu 12.04LTS + KDE 4.12.0/ppa. It is a laptop where I usually connect an external VGA for a dual monitor setup. When going from using the LVDS to dual (plugging the external VGA one) everything works fine, with KDE asking to run the system settings program. But when disconnecting the external monitor, KDE does not seem to realize it. So when I try to open the System Settings, it opens it in the (now blank) screen.

The workaround is always to switch off by hand to external monitor before unplugging it.

Juan

Exact same situation here. I recently switch from Unity because I got fed up with al it's quirks but Unity did handle this external-monitor setup flawlessly: when I would connect my external monitor it would be activated right away. If I then close my laptop lid, it turns of the laptop display. When I disconnect the external monitor, the internal laptop display is reactivated.

In KDE, none of this happens. When I first connect the external monitor, I get a popup asking me if it should try automatically. Why doesn't it just try automatically right away, and give me one of those nifty KDE notifications informing me that I can change the setup if I want to?

Same situation: same Ubuntu version, same KDE 4.12 PPA.

Hi, Can you check if this works with Kubuntu 14.04 + KDE SC 4.13.2?
