Bug Description

/etc/xdg/autostart/fcitx-autostart.desktop is unnecessary on Ubuntu/Debian. We have im-config.
It is very annoying when ibus and fcitx install at the same time.

The attachment "remove-fcitx-autostart.debdiff" seems to be a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.

Thank you for your work. I'm going to wait on Aron to comment on whether we want that autostart or not. Since that's a file in /etc (conffile) if you stop installing it you need a maintscript script to clean it on upgrades

(unsubscribing sponsors, the diff needs to be fixed and it feels like something for Aron to review, no need to keep it in the sponsoring queue)

I prefer keeping it as fcitx will quit when it sees anything that's already taken XIM position (which should be already set by im-config), so I'm not sure what's the annoying issue?

OK.
Two users use the same Ubuntu.
User A prefers IBus, and user B prefers Fcitx.
User A's environment runs Fcitx automatically after login.
User A should run gnome-session-properties and uncheck Fcitx.
It's so annoying.

There's no need to uncheck Fcitx, if the user has set the default input method to ibus using im-config, ibus should be started before fcitx, so that the autostart will give up initializing fcitx. Am I correct?
