Bug Description

In GNOME, when creating a custom launcher complete with icon, and I drag a copy to the top panel it later becomes hidden.

Sometimes it happens right away, others I must reboot, and when it starts up the custom launcher is gone!

So, I try and add another copy of the launcher by doing the same thing and in the same place, and then the first one is visible again, and then there are two.

I reported this before, but I thought it had been fixed, but the only way to "fix" this problem is to keep rearranging the launchers on panel until the custom launcher does not dissapear anymore.

May I state that I create the launcher on the Desktop first, and then drag a copy to the top panel.

I think the bug is related to gnome-panel.. can you check "About" with right click on the top panel do you have. I don't have the default configuration :-) It should be gnome panel or window list.

Are you still getting this issue? May you try to reproduce it with Gutsy?

I am not getting it right now, simply because I have my panel the way I want it at the moment. But, whenever I try to add a new launcher from the desktop, then I usually get it again. (at least once, until I mess with it and drag it around, then it seems to stay)

I have not gotten gutsy yet, and when I do... I will try it.

But, I have had this bug in Dapper and Feisty, so unless someone pays attention to this bug report, I doubt it will be fixed in gutsy. Perhaps it will be fixed in Hardy.

Thanks but the report isn't very clear, feel free to report a new one if you encounter the same problem with a new user in a Gutsy or Hardy installation. thanks.
