Bug Description

We have a new version of uGet which is 1.10.4. This version is not in the Debian repos but we have submitted a bug report to them as well.

However, please do not pull our package from Debian because the app for Debian and the app for Ubuntu are not the same as we utilize Ubuntu specific libraries for those packages so the Debian package doesn't work properly in Ubuntu as the app is intended to.

Ubuntu 13.10 has uGet 1.10.3 in the repo but unfortunately it has the Debian package which means it isn't the proper package for Ubuntu.

Please, update the package in the repo for 14.04 with uGet 1.10.4 but utilizing the package we make for Ubuntu.

Here are the files for the Ubuntu specific package:

Ubuntu tarball:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/urlget/files/uget%20%28stable%29/1.10.4/uget_1.10.4-0ubuntu1%7Esaucy.tar.gz/download

amd64:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/urlget/files/uget%20%28stable%29/1.10.4/uget_1.10.4-0ubuntu1%7Esaucy_amd64.deb/download

i386:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/urlget/files/uget%20%28stable%29/1.10.4/uget_1.10.4-0ubuntu1%7Esaucy_i386.deb/download

------------

If you want the generic non-Ubuntu tarball then you can get that here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/urlget/files/uget%20%28stable%29/1.10.4/uget-1.10.4.tar.gz/download

-----------

Once 14.04 gets updated to this version then we will submit backports for previous versions of Ubuntu.

It is a very bad idea to release tarballs specific to distributions. Can you explain which "Ubuntu specific libraries" you utilize and why they can't be chosen at build time?

Such Ubuntu-specific dependencies can be enabled at build time, so there's no actual need to release distro-specific versions.

They can be chosen at build time. I think the only difference is libappindicator.

We don't create a different tarball for Ubuntu...that is just a tarball that is auto-generated by Launchpad in our PPA.
