firefox RSS drop-downs no longer record visits

Bug Description
Until recently, one would VISIT an item pointed to by an RSS drop-down menu and the next time one exhibited the drop-down, the ICON for the just-visited URL would be ERASED, showing that the particular URL had been visited.
This ERASING no longer happens, and one no longer has an indication of the visit.
Could this be an interplay with AUTO FORM FILL-IN or other Firefox add-ons?
