selection interacts terribly with images that don't fit into window

This is not so much visible with 1.4+ since the default is zooming the image so it fits into the window.

Still if you resize the window later or zoom in the image does not fit. Selecting area larger than the visible area is next to imposible. While you can make larger selection you don't see what you are selecting at all.

We should probably automatically scroll the window along with the selection.
